- Meeting Overview:
The Revere License Commission recently held a meeting where they addressed various license applications, renewals, and concerns about local business operations. One notable issue discussed was the application for nine one-day malt wine licenses for semi-professional soccer games at Harry Della Russo Stadium. The commission grappled with concerns over stadium cleanliness and the management of trash left behind from previous events. Additionally, the meeting dealt with the transfer of a common victualler’s license for Flaming Grill and Buffet, parking issues at Roadway Inn, and the non-operational status of Noah’s Auto Body.
The commission’s discussion on the soccer game licenses centered around the responsibility of event organizers to ensure proper cleanup post-games. The applicant, Juan Cardinas, assured the commission that they would handle trash removal, despite challenges in obtaining assistance from the parks and recreation department. The commissioners debated the intentions behind selling alcohol at the games, with the consensus being that it was to enhance the experience for adult attendees. The licenses were eventually approved without opposition, with the stipulation that the event organizers uphold their commitments to cleaning efforts.
Another topic was the transfer of a common victualler’s license from Flaming Super Buffet Inc to the new management following the owner’s retirement. The manager assured the commission that there would be no changes under the new ownership, and the transfer was approved with no opposition.
The commission also addressed issues with two businesses: Noah’s Auto Body and Roadway Inn. Noah’s Auto Body had renewed its license, but concerns were raised regarding the business’s operational status. Consequently, a motion was passed to send a letter requesting the business to attend the next meeting for clarification. Roadway Inn faced scrutiny over parking issues, with reports from the fire department about fire lane blockages posing potential hazards. A motion was made to call in the establishment to discuss solutions to the parking concerns.
During the meeting, Royal Food Enterprises Inc’s application for a change of DBA from Saine Bakery and Cafe to Crown Fried Chicken and Pizza was tabled until the end of the meeting due to the absence of a representative. The application was ultimately set aside for discussion at the next meeting.
The commission moved through other agenda items, including the approval of a one-day license for a beautify Revere spring cleanup day event at City Riv Veterans Memorial Park. The event manager, Rose Burns, outlined plans for a morning cleanup and a celebratory barbecue in the afternoon, which the commission approved.
Additionally, communications from the Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission were acknowledged, which included the return of no action on an application for a license transfer and the approval of a malt wine license for Mass Trips Inc DBA Esy Takaria.
The commission rounded off the meeting with the approval of various license renewals for entertainment, common victualler, and parking lots. However, renewals for Royal Food Enterprises Inc and Emerald Business Enterprises DBA Roadway were withheld pending further discussion on the previously mentioned concerns.
