Revere Zoning Board Approves 12-Unit Residential Project on Northshore Road
- Meeting Overview:
The Revere Zoning Board granted a variance for the construction of a 12-unit residential building on Northshore Road, a transit-oriented project positioned near the Wonderland MBTA station. This development aims to replace a dilapidated structure with a four-story building that will include parking facilities and a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments, addressing both local housing needs and urban renewal efforts.
During the meeting, Attorney Jerry Damrosio outlined the plans for the Northshore Road project, emphasizing its alignment with the city’s recent developmental trends. He highlighted that the new structure would be a four-story building with parking on the first floor, a significant improvement over the existing state of disrepair on the site. The development will feature six two-bedroom and six one-bedroom units, with six parking spots available. Damrosio stressed the project’s compatibility with the area’s zoning regulations, noting similar projects recently approved by the board. The transit-oriented nature of the development was underscored, given its proximity to the Wonderland MBTA station, making it appealing to potential renters commuting to Boston. Letters of support from local residents and a former city councilor were acknowledged, and no opposition was recorded.
Additionally, the board considered a proposal for a mixed-use condominium building at 76-82 Revere Beach Boulevard. This project involves constructing an 80-unit residential building with commercial space, designed to enhance economic growth and provide affordable housing options. The applicant, represented by Attorney Nancy O’Neal, explained the revisions made to the building’s design and parking arrangements since its initial approval in 2025, addressing community safety and functionality concerns. The development will offer 10% of its units as affordable homeownership opportunities, contributing to the city’s housing goals. The project received support from city officials and the local ward counselor, with an agreement to donate 25 trees to the community.
Lastly, the board approved a special permit for converting a non-conforming two-family structure into a single-family home with an accessory dwelling unit on Revere Beach Boulevard. The applicant stated there were no additional comments, and no public opposition was voiced.
