During the recent meeting of the Richfield Housing & Redevelopment Authority (HRA), officials approved a allocation of $50,000 from the city’s Local Affordable Housing Aid to Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People (VEAP) for emergency rental assistance. This decision aims to address the gap in support for residents facing housing instability due to reduced funding and increased need following the pandemic. The funds will assist households earning up to 50% of the area median income with up to three months of rental aid. VEAP, which was not selected as an administrator for county funds, will continue to provide crucial support, including case management services within Richfield’s municipal center, to help residents maintain housing stability.
