The Ridgefield School Board unanimously approved the participation of three students from Ridgefield Memorial High School (RMHS) in the Future Leaders for Business and the Economy (FL DECA) National Competition. The approval was made during a Special Action Meeting held on April 17, 2023.
The meeting, which was called to order by Ms. Qirjako at 5:34 PM, took place remotely, as per guidelines for public gatherings in the context of the ongoing pandemic. Mr. Morilla was the only board member absent from the meeting.
The field trip, scheduled for April 21 to 26, 2023, was endorsed by Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr. Letizia Pantoliano. Matthew Polifrone and Maria Mastellone, teachers at RMHS, will accompany the students to the DECA National Competition. DECA competitions focus on preparing high school and college students for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management.
Dr. Pantoliano expressed her gratitude to the Board for approving the trip, emphasizing the significance of such opportunities in enriching students’ educational experience. Following the consent resolution, the motion was made by Mr. Jacobs, seconded by Mr. Pych, and passed unanimously by the present board members.
The meeting lasted only a short four-minutes.
