One of the main focal points of the meeting was the public comment regarding the potential reintroduction of armed guards in River Vale schools. A community member expressed concerns about the defeated ballot initiative, which proposed armed guards at each school. The board clarified that while the initiative was currently moot, it could be reconsidered for a future November ballot. Superintendent Melissa Signore and School Business Administrator/Board Secretary Kelly Ippolito provided insight into the process and stipulations for such measures.

In addition to security concerns, Patrice Pintarelli shared the district’s clean financial audit, highlighting no recommendations or corrective orders, and commending Ippolito and her team for their work.

The meeting also touched upon professional development, with Signore praising the staff for their commitment to education and learning, emphasizing the recent professional learning day activities. The board acknowledged the Rivervale Ed fund’s contribution to funding all elementary field trips and special activities for eighth graders.
