Mrs. Anne Simone, a secretary at Franklin School, was celebrated for her nearly three decades of service, with speakers noting her artistic talents and central role in the school’s operations. Kindergarten teachers Mrs. Jan Campa and Mrs. Pat Santillo, as well as nurse Mrs. Penny Deandrea, were among those receiving warm wishes for their contributions. Additional retirees recognized included Ms. Margaret Pella, Ms. Deb Schroeder, Ms. Sue Alexander, Ms. Ann Garrison, and Mr. Leo Whan.

The board emphasized the significant impact of the retirees on the school district. They were praised for their dedication, mentorship, and the challenges they overcame throughout their careers. The plan aims to ensure that all students attending the district’s schools are indeed residents of South Plainfield. This process involves collecting information from parents and guardians to confirm residency, thereby addressing concerns about the financial implications of educating non-resident students.

The board also took time to commend the contributions of the student representative to the Board of Education, recognizing the importance of student involvement and perspective in district affairs.

Additionally, the board announced upcoming events, such as the Middle School promotion and High School graduation.
