St. Cloud City Council Approves New Tagline “Soldier City” for Official Use
- Meeting Overview:
In a special meeting on June 15, 2026, the St. Cloud City Council approved the replacement of the current city tagline with “Soldier City,” effective July 4. This change reflects a desire to unify the city’s branding and eliminate the use of the previous tagline, “Center Place.” The council agreed to a phased approach, applying the new tagline to new purchases and materials while allowing current items to be naturally replaced over time.
Discussions revealed that the city logo on wayfinding signs and other materials would be updated to remove previous references to the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) and incorporate the new “Soldier City” tagline where feasible. Concerns were raised about the readability of the tagline on signs, particularly those visible to fast-moving traffic, but the council decided to consult with manufacturers for potential adjustments.
Additionally, the council verified and approved the list of candidates for the upcoming primary and general elections. The candidates for Council Member seats included Ken Gilbert, Jim Moore, Alex Rodriguez, and Kirk Zilke. This decision was met with unanimous approval from the council members present.
