The city manager explained that the project aims to create more parking spaces on Broad Street, with the possibility of using pervious pavement to improve water drainage. The council had earlier identified this project as a priority during budget discussions. Although funding constraints may affect the feasibility of using pervious pavement, the project is moving forward with the allocated budget.

Additionally, the FY 2025 budget benefits from an increase in tax increment financing (TIF) revenue, amounting to approximately $50,000. This increment has been allocated to cover personnel expenses for two new staff members.

The meeting also touched on the installation of new parking signs and directories. The city manager confirmed that the signs are already up, and the kiosks for directories are expected to be installed soon, pending favorable weather conditions.

Member Nelson expressed enthusiasm for the Broad Street project, particularly the potential use of pervious pavement, describing it as “wonderful.” The approval of the budget and resolution was met with unanimous consent from the board members present.
