Dr. Harrove highlighted the ongoing efforts to assist these students, mentioning that over 60% of the students at the College are Pell Grant recipients. The funding will support food pantries and meal passes that are important for students who previously relied on meal plans provided in their K-12 education. The support from the Commissioners was commended as critical for the well-being of the students who are part of a vulnerable demographic within the county.

In another significant topic, Joseph Graziano, Director of the Department of Engineering, Public Works, and Facilities Management, answered questions about an upcoming countywide mosquito control program. This air spray program is a contingency plan for use only if needed, like during past emergency situations such as the Triple E (Eastern Equine Encephalitis) outbreak. The program has not been needed historically but is put in place annually as a precaution.

The meeting also covered various departmental resolutions, including those of the Department of Economic Development, Department of Human Services, Department of Parks and Recreation, and Department of Public Safety. The Department of Finance presented one resolution, and the Department of Public Safety discussed the return of a former staff member.
