The Board approved a series of resolutions during the meeting. One significant decision involved the establishment of the School Improvement Panel (ScIP) for the 2023-24 school year, while another was the adoption of the New Jersey Policy Alert and Support System for the same year. The Board also approved the submission of the District Mentoring Plan to the Department of Education of NJ and the approval of Mentor Teachers for the 2023-24 school year. Additionally, the Board acknowledged the completion and acceptance of the Annual Chief School Administrator’s Evaluation for the 2023-24 school year.

Other resolutions approved included the acceptance of the Local District Special Education Public Report for 2021-22, the submission of the School Security Drill Statement of Assurance for the 2022-23 school year, and the acknowledgment of the completion and acceptance of the Annual Chief School Administrator’s Evaluation for the 2023-24 school year.

The auditor, Mr. Gary Higgins, reported that the 2021-2022 audit was completed in March with no findings or recommendations. He also commented on the ESSER grants and stated that there were no audit findings related to those grants. He mentioned that current interest rates are favorable for the upcoming referendum financing.

During the meeting, the Facilities/Safety Committee approved resolutions related to payment for a roofing project at the High School, cleaning services for the Jefferson School Annex, landscaping maintenance for the 2023 season, and window cleaning at all three schools. The Finance Committee also approved resolutions accepting the FY 24 ESEA allocations, approving the List of Transfers, approving the Request for Funds #1 for the payment of bills in July 2023, and renewing, awarding, or allowing to expire a series of contracts in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Dr. Albro reported that 45 students have already registered or are scheduled for kindergarten enrollment for the upcoming school year. He also shared the HIB Report for Jefferson School Annex, with two reported incidents, both of which were unaffirmed or inconclusive.

Additionally, the board approved environmental services from RJB Environmental, Inc., for the 2023-2024 school year, which includes AHERA Document Audit, AHERA Six (6) Month Periodic Surveillance and Report Inspection, Management Planner, Administrative Assistant, and AHERA Asbestos Awareness Training. The board also approved environmental services from Rullo & Juillet Associates, Inc., for the 2023-2024 school year, including Complete Right-to-Know Specifications, Flash Drives of Safety Data Sheets, Hazard Communications Standard Plans, Initial and Updated PEOSH Hazard Communications Training, Electronically filing RTK Survey, and Electronic access to Safety Data Sheets.

The meeting also saw the approval of various Personnel Committee Resolutions, including the acceptance of the retirement of Deborah O’Shea, an Elementary Teacher at Frank W. Gavlak School, effective September 30, 2023, after 25 years of service.
