The election for the Board President was contested between Phyllis Duet and Manuel Gonzalez, with Gonzalez securing the position with a vote count of five against three for Duet. Subsequently, the position of Vice President was filled by Muhammad Free, who won against Phyllis Duet with an identical vote count.

Additionally, the Board moved to adopt the New Jersey School Board Members’ Code of Ethics. The code includes tenets such as upholding laws related to schools, making decisions based on the educational welfare of children, and maintaining confidentiality on sensitive matters.

The Board also approved various routine items ranging from establishing the time and place for future meetings, designating official newspapers, adopting parliamentary procedures, and approving annual appointments, among others.
