Patricia Koviello, who served the district for 22 years, was also honored. She began her career in the business office and spent the last 11.5 years as the administrative assistant to the superintendent. Maria Monasterio, retiring from the transportation department after almost 19 years, was recognized for her efforts in organizing numerous athletic and field trips. Similarly, Maria Macaron, a teacher for 21 years, was praised for her tailored approach to education, fostering academic success among her students. Her retirement marks the end of a significant chapter for her students and colleagues.

In addition to these retirements, the board highlighted student achievements across the district. The Wayne hockey team was celebrated for its victory over PCTI in a county championship, winning 3-0. The meeting also acknowledged students accepted into the North Jersey Regional Choir, alongside various community engagement initiatives such as the Stars Club partnering with the boys’ basketball team to promote inclusivity.

The board also discussed the 2026-2027 school calendar and expressed concerns over an impending snowstorm forecasted to bring 9 to 17 inches of snow. The superintendent advised families to prepare for potential school closures, with the facilities team on standby to ensure safety.
