Mr. Martin, previously a sixth-grade math and science teacher at Nutley Public Schools for nine years, has been coaching tennis in the West Essex School District since 2020. His coaching experience also includes being an assistant football coach in Nutley from 2015 to 2022. His new role in West Essex is anticipated to commence around August 1st.

Another notable presentation at the meeting included an independent study on radon gas emissions by student Alex Chen. He elucidated on his findings concerning the environmental factors affecting radon levels and shared insights on the importance of radon testing and air circulation in homes.

Furthermore, the meeting touched upon various student achievements and initiatives, including the success of the music department at the Dorney Park Festival, the fulfillment of a water project in South Sudan sponsored by students, and recognition of students in the New Jersey elementary and Junior High School All State Choir Festival.

In athletics, the Board celebrated Anthony Manello, the retiring athletic director, for being named Athletic Director of the Year. Additionally, the accomplishments of students in the Essex County Special Olympics and Essex County academic awards were highlighted, with a special mention of a student, Anna Wils, recognized as valedictorian.

The Board also discussed administrative matters, such as the rescheduling of upcoming meetings, the well-being of students and staff during ongoing construction affecting classrooms, and the preparation for end-of-year events like the eighth-grade City cruise and move-up day.
