Mundy highlighted the importance of involving the Affordable Housing Trust to explore funding opportunities for preliminary investigations into the site’s water and sewer capacity.

The board also addressed traffic safety concerns, particularly on Old County Road, where speeding issues were noted. A meeting with MassDOT and TEC engineers aimed to initiate a local planning program to develop traffic calming designs. Proposed measures included modular speed cushions, painted lines, and warning signage, with the intention of using state funds to cover costs. Ecological considerations were also on the agenda, with discussions on a $5.3 million grant request for upgrading culverts to facilitate migratory fish passage. The culverts in question, including Snell and Lyons Brook, were identified as needing replacement, while other structures would be designed as small bridges. The importance of compiling an inventory of Westport’s culverts was emphasized, as many were absent from the national inventory. Collaborations with the Buzzards Bay Coalition and highlighting Westport’s cold water streams were deemed essential in grant applications.

The meeting also touched on ongoing construction projects, with updates provided for Francis Estates, Inheritance Lane, and the Route 88 Sullivan Solar project.
