Marissa Santiago, a senior at Woodbridge High School and the student representative, was introduced and lauded for her academic excellence and community service. Her dedication to extracurricular activities and leadership roles in various clubs highlighted the district’s focus on fostering well-rounded students. Marissa’s plans to pursue a degree in classical voice performance further underscored her diverse talents and ambitions.

Additionally, the success of the high school’s DECA team, which qualified for national competition, was acknowledged, highlighting the students’ business acumen and competitive spirit.

School Number 45 successfully raised over $4,000 for the American Heart Association via the Kids Heart Challenge. This initiative involved a schoolwide activity day and a friendly basketball game between staff and students, promoting cardiovascular health awareness and community involvement. Similarly, Ford’s Middle School contributed approximately 800 pounds of food to the township’s food drive.

Students from John F. Kennedy Memorial High School, Ran Desai and Mishi Patel, addressed the board about their chapter’s community service efforts. A significant fundraising project raised $72,000 to help a teacher who lost her home, with the added challenge of caring for a disabled child. This effort highlighted the students’ empathy and dedication to supporting their community. Additionally, their chapter received global recognition for the “rent for moms” initiative, which supports African-American single mothers, further exemplifying their impact beyond the local level.

The meeting also covered the introduction of a communication policy and planning agenda, a curriculum and extracurricular activities agenda, and a finance and insurance agenda. Each agenda was presented and unanimously approved.

In terms of health and wellness, the meeting acknowledged various initiatives, including the Kids Heart Challenge, which combined educational elements about cardiovascular health with fundraising activities.
