Wyckoff Town Council Introduces 11 New Ordinances to Address Affordable Housing Compliance
- Meeting Overview:
In a recent Wyckoff Town Council meeting, officials introduced 11 ordinances aimed at meeting the township’s affordable housing obligations. These proposals, which are part of the township’s fourth-round affordable housing compliance plan, will undergo further review before potential adoption.
The meeting’s primary focus was the introduction of multiple ordinances related to affordable housing. The council outlined new zoning regulations and amendments designed to enhance affordable housing opportunities within the township. Ordinance 2064 proposes a complete overhaul of the existing affordable housing chapter, replacing it with a new framework to better administer affordable housing provisions in line with state requirements. Ordinance 2065 similarly revises the township’s development fees.
A series of ordinances from 2066 to 2074 were introduced to amend land use and zoning regulations, expanding inclusionary overlay zones and adjusting zoning requirements in various districts. These changes are intended to align with Wyckoff’s adopted housing element and fair share plan, as mandated by the Fair Housing Act.
Each ordinance will be reviewed by the planning board, with public notices issued for those living within 200 feet of the affected areas. The council plans to adopt these ordinances on March 12, after the planning board’s adoption of the housing element and consistency review.
