- Meeting Overview:
In a recent Wyckoff Town Council meeting, the council members took steps to enhance public safety and support community services. The council approved several resolutions, including the authorization of the Spotted Lanternfly Reimbursement Program, grants for the renovation of Christian Health’s Evergreen Court units, and the rejection of bids for contract number 2023-5, which involved the supply, delivery, and installation of the brick veneer for the pole barn.
The meeting commenced with a motion to open the public comment period, where residents expressed their concerns and appreciation. Mariana Emo, a local resident and vice president of the Ramapo Indian Hills Board of Education, commended the town council and thanked the fire department, police department, and EMS for their response to a recent house fire. She also raised concerns about speeding on her street and suggested the installation of speed limit signs for the safety of children.
The council moved to approve the consent agenda, which included the computation of reserve for uncollected taxes for 2023, the authorization of representatives to the Bergen County Communication Advisory Board, and agreements related to shared services and the Waldwick Well Baby Clinic. Furthermore, the council introduced ordinance 2005.
New appointments and recognitions were also part of the meeting’s outcomes. The council approved the application of Kevin O’Neal as a regular firefighter for the Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Department Fire Company number three, and confirmed the appointment of Mr. Lawrence Berger to the Recreation Advisory Board.
Finally, the council discussed ordinances for public hearing. Ordinance 2002, which establishes 2024 sewer charges for the use of the sanitary sewer system, was adopted after public hearing. Similarly, ordinances 2003, amending claims approval processes, and 2004, adjusting compensation for certain Public Works employees, were also adopted.
