- Meeting Overview:
The most recent Howell Town Council meeting addressed a range of topics from community events to infrastructure projects. Another noteworthy discussions centered on the update to the Farm Special Event ordinances and the recognition of the Howell AYFC Fury and Super Surge teams for their national championships.
The council provided a detailed update on the Farm Special Event ordinances, which have been subject to extensive revision. The amendments include changes in the number of guests allowed at events, adjustments to the fee structure, and new site plan requirements. During the public comments section, residents expressed their support for the efforts made by the council to amend the ordinances.
The meeting also celebrated local achievements with the council recognizing the Howell AYFC Fury and Super Surge teams for their national championships. The mayor read a proclamation for Arbor Day, promoting the planting of trees and announcing activities related to the day. Further proclamations were made for the National Day of Prayer and Global Love Day, setting aside days for prayer, forgiveness, and unconditional love within the township.
In response to concerns raised during the public comments, the council provided updates on several community projects. They discussed the timeline for the reinstallation of basketball courts at Ramtown Manor Park and the potential addition of new basketball and pickleball courts at Deerwood Park. The aim is to complete the Deerwood Park project around Memorial Day. Moreover, the council addressed the Marl Road situation. They also mentioned the possibility of making a summary of the Marl Road situation available on the township’s website to keep the public informed.
The council’s discussion extended to the upcoming Farm Crawl event and the National Night of Prayer event. Appreciation was expressed for the efforts of the special events coordinator, Steven, in organizing various community activities including the July 4th celebration, and movies and music events planned for the summer. The council encouraged residents to offer suggestions for additional events to foster a stronger sense of community.
Additionally, the council discussed the Tunnels to Towers event, which involved remodeling a house to accommodate a veteran.
As part of the council’s administrative actions, a new ordinance was introduced authorizing Howell Township to enter into a lease with Howell Township Fire District number two. This lease agreement would provide ground space for a radio communications tower.
