Ventnor City Council Seeks $5 Million Federal Grant for Boardwalk Restoration
- Meeting Overview:
During the Ventnor City Council meeting, officials discussed a proposal for a $5 million federal grant to aid in the restoration and reconstruction of the city’s Boardwalk. If approved, this funding would either extend the current reconstruction efforts or offset the city’s existing financial commitment.
Another point of discussion included the authorization of a contract with LX Consulting Group for additional environmental consulting services, specifically wetland delineation, at a cost not exceeding $9,875.
The Council also addressed the implementation of a LEAP Grant. This initiative is expected to facilitate more efficient and precise property assessments across the city.
Additional resolutions included formalizing an agreement with former police chief Mike Miller for professional services in evidence room data management. The resignation of firefighter Joseph Callahan was also accepted, with the Council expressing best wishes for his future endeavors.
Updates were provided on ongoing infrastructure projects, such as the Ventnor traffic lights and Somerset Avenue sewer main replacement. A update was shared regarding the beach replenishment project, which is now complete, restoring the beach area between the pier and Buffalo Avenue.
City officials also announced a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Bandshell, scheduled for next Friday, with construction expected to be completed by Memorial Day. This project, supported by a notable donation from the Beautification Committee, is anticipated to enhance community events and gatherings.
