The recent Manchester School Board meeting was marked by the recognition of Girl Scouts working towards their Gold Award, the presentation of the “One School, One Book” initiative, and an audit report commending the district’s financial excellence. The Manchester School Board meeting began with the acknowledgment of the Girl Scouts who were working towards their Gold Award. These young community builders were lauded for their efforts and representation of the Girl Scouts organization. Following this, the board recognized several students for their exemplary behavior and contributions to their school community. Among them were the founding members of Operation Kindness at MTES, a student who had taken on the role of a mentor in the autism program, and another who had volunteered at a Thanksgiving dinner.
The board then transitioned to recognitions in sports and academic competitions, with students from various schools receiving acknowledgment for their achievements. This was followed by the presentation of the “One School, One Book” initiative at Whiting Elementary.
Superintendent Diane Pedroza reported on various events and achievements in the district. These included the recognition of the district as a town of excellence, the NJ Roc’s Pearl Harbor Memorial Day drill, the family STEM night, holiday events, and a vendor fair. Superintendent Pedroza also extended holiday wishes and announced upcoming events.
On the financial front, the board received an audit report from Robert Provost. Provost commended the district for its timely filing and financial excellence. In response to this, the board approved various agenda items, including the annual comprehensive financial report, transportation, personnel matters, student personnel, and special services.
Finally, the board expressed its gratitude to the PTA for their holiday shops, acknowledging the generosity of the town and district. It also congratulated the teachers of the year and educational support professionals, recognizing their contributions to the district’s success. The board also mentioned the upcoming reorganization meeting, policy committee activities, and the board’s liaison appointments.
