Fairfield School Board Faces Budget Challenges Amid Health Cost Increases
- Meeting Overview:
At the recent Fairfield School Board meeting, officials discussed budget challenges due to a 23% rise in health costs, a 3% reduction in state aid, and rising energy expenses. These factors have led the district to utilize the maximum allowable tax levy increase of 2%, with an additional one-time health care cost adjustment. Further budget details will be shared in April.
The board introduced Dr. Paul Kasaro as the acting principal for the remainder of the school year at Churchill School. Dr. Kasaro, a seasoned educator and former superintendent, brings extensive experience to the role. Additionally, Thomas Majoka was announced as the principal for the 2026–27 school year and beyond. Mr. Majoka, currently a curriculum supervisor, has a strong background in education as both a teacher and acting principal.
