Superintendent Jason Bing provided an update on the reopening of Maplewood Middle School. After a portion of the ceiling fell on the second floor, swift action was taken by the director of facilities and the state-approved contractors. Repairs were completed, and air quality tests confirmed the environment is safe. The final state inspection was approved, allowing the school to reopen.

The board also addressed two time-sensitive resolutions. The first resolution approved the continuation of paraprofessional services through the summer with ESS. The extension provides the district additional time to evaluate bids for a new contract starting in the fall. The second resolution authorized architectural services for Seth Boyden Elementary to address ongoing drainage issues. The firm selected has prior experience within the district and comes highly recommended.

Discussion during the meeting highlighted the importance of these services and the thorough vetting process for selecting the architectural firm. There was a focus on ensuring quality and compliance to prevent disqualification issues experienced with a previous vendor.
