Concerns were raised about the environmental impact of data centers, particularly regarding their extensive water and electricity use, and the potential strain on the township’s existing infrastructure and resources.

In addition to the environmental impact, the proposal also addresses concerns over the township’s sewage capacity and the potential for increased flooding due to the water usage from data centers. A board member noted the importance of maintaining the township’s utility capacity and preventing overuse, citing the master plan’s utility service goals. The board ultimately voted to deem the ordinance not inconsistent with the master plan.

Another notable topic was a completeness hearing for Amsac Basking Ridge LLC’s application for an amended preliminary and final site plan. The board reviewed the application and deemed it complete, scheduling a hearing for later in the summer.
