The meeting’s most significant topic was the public comment made by Thea Burke, a long-time resident of Plainsboro and president of the West Windsor-Plainsboro Service Association. Burke highlighted the vital role educational support professionals play in the school district. She emphasized the financial challenges these employees face, pointing out that many are forced to take second jobs or make difficult financial decisions due to inadequate compensation. Burke argued that fair compensation is not just about increasing pay but is essential for retaining experienced employees and ensuring the district remains an attractive workplace. Her comments underscored the potential negative impact on student services if wages do not reflect the value of these employees’ work.

The meeting also included celebrations of staff achievements. The district honored its retirees, educators of the year, and support staff of the year, recognizing their dedication and service. The celebration acknowledged 34 retirees who collectively contributed 866 years of service to the district. Superintendent David Aderhold extended his gratitude to the staff and organizers of the celebratory event.

Additionally, the board approved several administrative changes. Azure Diggs was appointed as the new principal of Village Elementary School. Stephanie Jiari was introduced as the new 6-12 language arts supervisor, bringing her experience from Manville School District. The meeting also recognized transitions, such as John Gabber moving to East Windsor as principal of Hightstown High School and Paul Hamnet transferring to Grover Middle School as assistant principal.
