Lacey School Board Celebrates Record AP Scores Amid Budget and Infrastructure Discussions
- Meeting Overview:
The Lacey School Board meeting highlighted the district’s academic achievements while addressing ongoing infrastructure projects and financial matters. The district celebrated a significant academic milestone, with 66.5% of Advanced Placement (AP) students scoring a three or above. Additionally, the board discussed progress on roof construction projects and updates on financial negotiations and health benefits.
One item at the meeting was the report on the district’s AP results. The superintendent expressed gratitude towards Mr. Zylinski for his leadership during challenging times. The district recorded its highest number of AP tests taken, 376, in six years. The board acknowledged the efforts of students and educators in reaching this milestone, expressing hope for continued success.
Infrastructure updates were another focal point, with progress reported on the high school and Cedar Creek roof construction. These projects have impacted facility usage, with indoor requests being denied due to ongoing work, although outdoor facilities remain available to the community.
Financial discussions included an update on the district’s health benefits, with the decision to remain in the school health benefit system. The board also addressed upcoming negotiations regarding the LCBA contract and the approval of the district’s preschool funding application by the Department of Education. Additionally, the district’s partnership with Point Pleasant for Title III federal funding and updates on the NutriServe onboarding process were discussed.
In personnel matters, the board announced the transfer of Mrs. Kilmer back to the Lanoka Harbor School, recognizing her contributions over the past eight years. Mr. Chessly was appointed to fill her role, bringing new ideas and energy to the district.
