A critical focus was the replacement of the high school’s boilers, a project costing over $2 million. The boilers had not been replaced for many years, and the undertaking is essential to meet state deadlines for operational functionality by October 15th. The board emphasized the importance of these updates, noting their role in maintaining the district’s infrastructure.

Further renovations were discussed for other schools within the district. Roosevelt School will see the removal of an existing chain-link fence and the installation of a retaining wall aimed at enhancing the school’s appearance. Jefferson School is set to receive gym renovations, including repainting and new wall pads, which will improve a facility heavily utilized by the community. Updates to furniture in the schools are ongoing, with kindergarten and second-grade facilities already benefiting from new desks and chairs, and first-grade furniture to be replaced over the summer. The board expressed a desire to ensure all K-2 facilities are furnished with new furniture in the coming years, acknowledging that some existing items may have been in use for decades.

The meeting also served as a platform for acknowledging student achievements, particularly those involved in the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) program. The board and advisors praised students for their dedication and success in various competitions. Recognition was given to individual students like Nicholas Brennan, commended for his first-place finish in public speaking, and Giana Lambo, who was acknowledged for breaking the school record in softball with 118 hits.
