The Oradell Public School Board recently convened to discuss a number of developments for the district. Topping the list is the school’s forthcoming visit from the New York Giants, a distinction earned in part because of Oradell’s exemplary work with the American Heart Association.
Superintendent Megan N. Bozios shared that the New York Giants would be visiting Oradell Public School. The school is one of only two in New Jersey to be graced with this visit. This honor stems from the school’s dedication to the American Heart Association, with a remarkable donation record exceeding $100,000 over the past four years through the Kids Heart Challenge. The Giants’ visit, slated for the 17th, will not only be a treat for the students but will also offer a chance for the school to gain additional press coverage, further highlighting their philanthropic efforts.
In other news, the board touched upon the Oradell Kids Foundation and Oradell Fire Department 5K and Fun Run. Superintendent Bozios expressed excitement about Mrs. Holly starting the Fun Run alongside the middle and high school principals. With the possibility of rain during the event, the superintendent humorously suggested purchasing special umbrella hats for participants.
On the staffing front, Superintendent Bozios highlighted a successful initiative to recruit substitute teachers. The school has brought in eight new staff members as a result of their recent introduction meeting for potential substitutes. These new hires are not only an addition to the staff team but also bring community members into the school environment, strengthening the bond between the school and Oradell residents.
Lastly, the board emphasized the importance of staying informed about Riverdell’s upcoming referendum. A recent presentation by Riverdell regarding the referendum was pointed out, and board members discussed ensuring that they, along with the public, are kept in the loop regarding this development.
Throughout the meeting, various other administrative and procedural topics were covered, with board members diligently attending to the matters at hand. The evident camaraderie and the dedication of the board, combined with the exciting upcoming events for the school, paint a picture of a thriving and engaged educational community in Oradell.
