One item at the meeting was the detailed student report presented by Sophia, the sophomore class president. Besides her involvement in several sports and academic clubs, Sophia highlighted the achievements of the student community. She mentioned the successful Tiger 24 event, student athletes committing to colleges, therapy dogs visiting the high school, and a series of instant decision days for college admissions. Sophia also mentioned the plans for a Day of Service in May 2024 and the sophomore class’s initiative to create blankets for the Backpacks for Life charity.

The Day of Service discussion was further expanded by Superintendent Dr. Noreen Tansey Lishak who informed that additional information about the planned projects would be made available on the school’s website.

The meeting also featured a performance by the high school jazz band and chorus. The board members expressed their appreciation for this annual tradition and acknowledged the talent and dedication of the students and teachers involved.

Upon concluding the student achievements and performances, Board members turned their attention to staff-related matters. They acknowledged the impending retirements of two staff members, Leo and Anu, and promised to speak more on their contributions closer to the time of their retirements.

In a procedural note, the Board approved a series of resolutions and job descriptions, with one member, Sharon Miller, seeking a clarification regarding qualification requirements for certain positions.
