Shaw proposed that the one-way signs be lowered for better visibility and urged local authorities to investigate the matter. In response, the council acknowledged Shaw’s concerns and referred the issue to the public safety commissioner to ensure a swift resolution.

In parallel with addressing traffic safety, the council focused on infrastructure projects, particularly flood mitigation and beach maintenance. The historical museum project remains on the budget for 2027, while the back beach excavation project is being coordinated with the Army Corps of Engineers. There was discussion about the Washington CDO beach fallen outfalls and the capacity issues they present. Updates were provided on two FEMA grants, with the council hopeful about advancing one, though it is not yet official.

The council discussed potential changes to the flood mitigation efforts, including the idea of moving a pump station closer to the ocean. This suggestion was prompted by observed flooding patterns on Pacific Avenue and Seaview Avenue. However, the cost of such a major project was estimated to be between $10 to $15 million, compared to the current smaller-scale project under $4 million, which is primarily funded by a grant. The existing grant is intended for bayside application, but the council is exploring possibilities for additional funding to address needs on the east side of the borough.

In coordination with the Army Corps and NJDEP, the council reviewed revised plans for the beach excavation project, which are now more favorable to the borough’s needs. The new plans aim to reduce the volume of sand removal and improve drainage by exposing beach outfall lines. Additionally, more gradual ramps will lead down to the bathing beach.

Several resolutions were also addressed during the meeting. A resolution was approved to cancel and refund taxes for a totally disabled veteran. The council also authorized the appointment of members to the Wildwood Crest Youth Advisory Council. In support of community events, the council agreed to waive fees for the upcoming T.J. Hunt Memorial Foundation 5K and 1-mile foot race, scheduled for November 26, 2026.

A resolution was passed to authorize the advertisement of a notice to bidders for the NJDOT reconstruction of Stockton Road for the fiscal year 2025. Additionally, the council approved a service agreement with Husk Plus to establish a healthy food station for employees, funded by wellness incentive resources.

In terms of grant funding, the council accepted the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” grant from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety, amounting to $2,800 for the period from August 14 to September 7, 2026. An amendment to the 2026 municipal budget was also approved to include additional funds from the same division for the statewide Labor Day Grant Crackdown.
