Bloomingdale Borough Council Seeks $100,000 Grant for Museum Expansion
- Meeting Overview:
During the recent Bloomingdale Borough Council meeting, members discussed applying for a $100,000 grant from the Passaic County Historic Preservation Fund. The grant aims to refurbish and expand the local museum on Boston Street by converting a garage area into additional museum space. This initiative will allow the museum to accommodate more visitors and display more artifacts, such as the 70 veterans’ banners currently in storage. The expansion is part of ongoing efforts to preserve and promote the town’s history, with local historian Tom Riley involved in the project.
The council also discussed ongoing developments and challenges related to the delayed Main Street project. Communication continues with the developer and relevant parties, as the project requires multiple approvals from county and state agencies before breaking ground. Residents have expressed concerns over the current state of the site, but the council reassured that progress is being monitored closely.
In other updates, the renovation of the Senior Center is progressing, with the floor having been poured and further construction steps underway. The council also noted community events, including the upcoming Little League parade and the fishing derby, and discussed the ongoing efforts to maintain public safety and infrastructure, such as the newly secured fence near Lena’s.
