Nutley Rent Leveling Board Designates April as National Donate Life Month
- Meeting Overview:
In a recent meeting, the Nutley Rent Leveling Board designated April as National Donate Life Month to raise awareness about organ, eye, and tissue donation. The board encouraged residents to register as organ donors and observe Blue and Green Day on April 10th, 2026, by wearing the designated colors.
The board highlighted that more than 23,000 donors contributed to saving lives in 2025, with one donor potentially saving up to eight lives and healing more than 75 others. The resolution encourages residents to become donors by marking their driver’s license or registering online. This initiative aims to honor those who have given the gift of life and to inspire others to consider this life-saving decision.
Additionally, the meeting included discussions on several resolutions related to township services and contracts. A resolution was passed to acquire electronic sales contract services, while another authorized a change order for professional services regarding financial impact analysis on redevelopment projects. The board also approved resolutions for maintaining a goose-free environment in parks and for vision care network plan services.
The board authorized refunds for canceled participation in recreation programs and appointed Dr. Matthew Latysia as the medical director for the Nutley Fire Department at a fee of $6,000 per year. A resolution was also passed to insert a special item in the budget for the Safe and Secure Communities Grant, amounting to $45,150.
